Junior World Championship | Shreya Agarwal and Divyansh Panwar win bronze in the 10m air rifle event
Shreya Agarwal and Divyansh Singh Panwar teamed up to win bronze medal in the 10m air rifle event at the Junior World Championship being held in Changwon on Wednesday. After maintaining the second spot in the finals, the duo slipped to third place at the end of the fourth series with a score of 435.
Indian shooters have been at their very best this year and the recent results at the Asian Games were a testament to the same. The most recent juniors to join the list of podium finishers were Shreya Agarwal and Divyansh Singh Panwar, who bagged the mixed bronze medal in the 10m air rifle event at the ongoing Junior World Cup Championship.
Divyansh, 15, and Shreya, 17, finished third with the score of 435 points. The gold medal went to Italian duo of Marco Suppini and Sofia Benetti, who went on to create world record with a score of 499.0 points. Iran's Sadeghian Armina and Amir Mohammad Nekounam came second and bagged the silver medal with 497.7 points. China and Denmark finished fourth and fifth respectively in Changwon.
Meanwhile, in the women's 50m rifle prone competition, India's Tejaswini Sawant, Anjum Moudgil and Shreya Saksena failed to secure a podium finish. Tejaswini scored 617.4 points, while Anjum finished with 616.5 points and Shreya bagged 609.9 points. Earlier in the week, Anjum won silver in the 10m air rifle to grab an Olympic quota spot. In the men's 50m rifle prone event, India's Chain Singh was 14th, with 623.9 points.
