Asian Airgun Championships | India dominate with a tally of 25 medals

The Indian shooting contingent finished with a total tally of 25 medals in the recently concluded Asian Air Gun Championships, which was held in Chinese Taipei. The Indian shooters won 16 gold, five silver medals, and four bronze medals to assert their dominance at the Asian showpiece.

On the last day of the Championship, India’s Yash Vardhan and Shreya Agrawal struck gold in the men’s and women’s junior 10m air rifle event respectively. The duo also went on to win the team gold in the events with their respective partners to win three gold medals each in the final day of the championships. Yash and Shreya had combined to win the junior mixed team rifle event.

The young Indian shooting team participating at the 12th edition of the Asian Airgun Championships has undoubtedly undone themselves with their impressive display in the competition as they ended with a total 25 medals, including 16 gold, five silver and four bronze medals to thoroughly upstage all the other nations at the Asian showpiece.

Earlier, on the fifth day of the competition, shooters Divyansh Singh Panwar and Elavenil Valarivan had both bagged gold medals to complete a clean sweep in the 10m air rifle events. The Indian pair combined with their respective team-mates to win two team gold medals as well. 

The Indian shooting squad’s next assignment is scheduled for Al Ain in the UAE, where the ISSF Shotgun World Cup stage two begins from April 5.
