India started the men’s trap event with a lot promise on Wednesday as Kynan Chenai and Prithviraj Tondaiman shot two rounds of 25 each to lead 109 in the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Changwon. In the women’s trap event, however, Shagun Chowdhury and Rajeshwari Kumari remained under average.
India’s Kynan and Prithviraj could shoot two perfect rounds of 25 each, which helped them to lead the qualification field that was 109-strong in the men’s trap shooting competition.
On Thursday, there would be three more rounds before the top six shooters could go into the medal round, and after a strong start the Indian contingent would be hopeful of their chances as they stand in a strong position to clinch the final berths
However, the India duo is sharing their lead with two other shooters who are representing Great Britain and Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, India’s third competitor in the event, Zoravar Singh Sandhu, could only shoot 45 out of 50 as they finished on the 82nd place.
The women’s trap event was also going on apart from the men’s trap. Although India couldn’t do that well in the women's event as Shagun Chowdhary finished with a total of 115 as she is sitting at the 35th spot. The other competitor was Rajeshwari Kumari, who could manage 99 to finish at the 56th position.
In the non-competitive MQS section, Lakshay Sheoran managed to register a total of 48 after the first two rounds in the men’s trap.
