Zero conversation during competition helps us most, says Manu Bhaker about Saurabh Chaudhary
Contrary to popular belief, star Indian mixed team pistol shooters Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary hardly interact with each other, more so during competitions, as the former revealed. Bhaker also stated they are extremely different in terms of personality and just focus on their performances.
The pair has been quite invincible on the top stage, of late. They have been winning medals in the mixed team category with unparalleled ease and have gold medals to show in the four successive World Cups - New Delhi, Beijing, Munich, and Rio de Janerio. Prior to that, they had won the yellow metal at the Guadalajara World Cup last year.
However, while many would have assumed their success to breed from their sizzling chemistry and brilliant camaraderie, the reality has been quite contradicting. While 17-year-old Bhaker has been quite extrovert in handling media and speaking her mind, 16-year-old Chaudhary from Meerut has always preferred to keep things to himself. And that is exactly what has worked for them.
"If you ask me, our different personalities and almost zero interaction during competitions have worked wonders for us. It's like we are poles apart who don't know what's going on in each other's mind. Even while staying at the same team hotel, there's hardly any conversation. So, I believe this has allowed us to form a formidable combination," said Bhaker, reported TOI.
Bhaker further revealed that the duo has full trust in each other’s ability and knowledge to know exactly what to do at what time of the competition. "Well, it's all in our mind like how are we approaching the competition. The scoreboard tells the story everytime - the score, the number of targets we have shot. So we just focus on our individual performance, trying to help the country win a medal. Even when we are trailing, we know how to raise our game," added Manu.
