India at Olympics | Rio 2016 Day 3 : Live Blog, Results, Schedule, and Medals Tally
After failing to win a medal in the first two days, India would hope for a change of fortunes today with former Olympic medallists Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang in action. Apart from shooting, Indian action will be in swimming, individual archery and both menâs and womenâs hockey team.

2008 gold medal, 2012 bronze. Menâs 10m air rifle has been Indiaâs favourite shooting event ever since Abhinav Bindraâs heroics at Beijing. Gagan Narang followed in the same path four years later and brought back a bronze medal for India. Will the medal-winning streak in the event continue this time? After a failure in the team event, Indiaâs women archers will be looking to redeem themselves in the individual event with Laxmirani Majhi in action today in the Round of 64 elimination. She will take on Alexandra LongovĂĄ of Slovakia for a place in the last 32. If Laxmirani Majhi manages a win, then she will be again in action in the Round of 32Â
The menâs and womenâs hockey team will also be in action today with the menâs team taking on 2012 Olympic champions Germany and the womenâs team facing Great Britain. The menâs team had started their tournament with a 3-2 win over Ireland, while the women came back from a two-goal deficit to grab a draw against Japan.
The swimming pools at Rio will also see two Indians in action today. Sajan Prakash and Shivani Kataria will be representing India in the pool, however, they are not expected to win any medals.
