Rio 2016 | PV Sindhu’s gold-medal match the biggest event for India on Day 14

PV Sindhu, who created history by becoming the first-ever Indian shuttler to reach the final of the Olympic badminton event, will look to win a gold medal for India on the 14th day of the competition. Golfer Aditi Ashok, wrestler Sandeep Tomar will also feature on the day.

After confirming India’s second medal at the Rio Olympics, PV Sindhu will look to make it into a gold on Friday when she faces World No.1 Carolina Marin of Spain. The Spaniard leads the Indian 4-3 on head-to-head records with Marin winning the last meeting between the two at the 2015 Hong Kong Open in straight sets. Marin defeated 2012 London Olympics gold medallist Li Xuerui in straight sets in the semi-final yesterday. The big match of the day will be at 7.30pm, and you can follow our live blog for all the live updates from the event.

In the men’s 50km walk event, India’s Sandeep Kumar will be in action, while in the women’s 20km walk, Khushbir Kaur and Sapna Punia will represent in the country. The men's and women's 4 x 400m relay team will also be in action today. 

Golfer Aditi Ashok, who finished her second round in the joint-third position in the women’s golf event, will look to continue her good performance in the third round today to remain in the hunt for a medal.

In men’s freestyle wrestling, Sandeep Tomar will be in action in the 57kg category and will look to produce a big performance to continue India’s medal-winning run in wrestling at the Olympics.
