Joshna Chinappa and Saurav Ghosal to headline India's challenege at Asian Individual championship
Defending Champions Joshna Chinappa will lead the Indian challenge at the Asian Individual squash championship, that will start tomorrow, in Malaysia. Saurav Ghosal, who secured the silver in the competition last time, will want to go one step further in the event that is scheduled till May 5.
Reigning champion Joshna Chinappa will spearhead India's women's campaign in the forthcoming Asian Individual squash championship to be held in Malaysia from May 1 to 5. In the championship held two years ago in Chennai, Saurav Ghosal was the men's runner up and he will be another star campaigner.
Last time's women's runner up Dipika Pallikal Karthik has backed out of the championship this time. Other Indians taking part are Sunayna Kuruvilla, Tanvi Khanna and Aparajitha Balamurukan in the women's section and Abhishek Pradhan in the men's. Harinder Pal Sandhu is accompanying the team as the Coach. Incidentally, Harinder had recently taken part in a Level-I coaching course held in Jaipur.
Meanwhile, the draws are out and while Ghosal has been given the pride of place as the top seed in the men's section, Joshna is seeded two in the women's section with Annie Au of Hong Kong taking the top place. Other Indians who have earned seedings, all women, are Sunayna (10), Tanvi (14) and Aparajitha (16).
