One of India's brightest stars Manika Batra suffered a rare twin loss as Mavericks Kolkata slumped to a 4-11 defeat against Goa Challengers in New Delhi on Saturday. Batra suffered a 0-3 loss to Archana Kamath after which she lost her mixed doubles match alongside Bendedikt Duda.

The 2019 season of the Ultimate Table Tennis tournament is turning out to be a classic affair as was evident in yesterday's match between the highly-rated Mavericks Kolkata and Goa Challengers. The Goans pulled off a stunning 11-4 win as they shocked the Kolkata-based outfit on Saturday's encounters.

The leading Indian women's singles paddler Batra fell to a 0-3 in the women’s singles encounter to Archana Kamath as the 19-year-old secured the biggest victory of her fledgeling career.  The Challengers banked on Kamath’s early win as they demolished a strong Mavericks in each of the first four clashes as Spain’s Alvaro Robles and Amalraj Anthony/Cheng I-Ching scoring 2-1 wins in the men’s singles and mixed doubles encounters.

There was more turmoil for Batra though as she then lost by a scoreline of 1-2 in her mixed doubles match while playing alongside World No 55 Benedikt Duda, as Mavericks Kolkata were handed a massive defeat on Saturday.
