Manika 7 - 11 Zeng (0 - 3)

MANIKA BATRA CRASHES OUT OF THE WOMEN'S SINGLES IN STRAIGHT GAMES!

Manika 7 - 10 Zeng (0 - 3)

MATCH POINTS!

Manika 7 - 9 Zeng (0 - 3)

Manika gets another point on the Zeng serve. MAKE THAT TWO!!! TWO POINTS BETWEEN THEM NOW!!

Manika 5 - 9 Zeng (0 - 3)

OH NO!!! MANIKA HITS ONE LONG AFTER A GREAT RALLY ON THE FOREHAND BY BOTH PLAYERS!

Manika 5 - 8 Zeng (0 - 3)

ANOTHER ONE FOR MANIKA!! THREE IN A ROW!! SINGAPORE CALL TIMEOUT!!

Manika 4 - 8 Zeng (0 - 3)

SHE GETS A COUPLE OF POINTS BACK!! MORE OF THAT PLEASE!!

Manika 2 - 8 Zeng (0 - 3)

DO OR DIE TIME NOW!!! IF SHE CAN'T GET GOING NOW, IT IS ALL OVER

Manika 2 - 6 Zeng (0 - 3)

She gets one back. But Zeng is not letting her build any sort of momentum here.

Manika 1 - 5 Zeng (0 - 3)

ZENG GETS BOTH POINTS OFF THE MANIKA SERVE AGAIN!

Manika 1 - 3 Zeng (0 - 3)

She concedes another point here. BUT SHE COMES UP WITH A BIG CROSS COURT FOREHAND!!

Manika 0 - 2 Zeng (0 - 3)

She starts off with a couple of unforced errors to hand Zeng the lead,

Manika 4 - 11 Zeng (0 - 2)

THAT IS THE GAME!!! The only good thing about that game was that it cannot get any worse. She has nothing to lose now. She can go all out from here on if she wants to defend her crown.

Manika 4 - 10 Zeng (0 - 2)

OH NO!! This is all going wrong for Manika. SIX GAME POINTS!

Manika 4 - 8 Zeng (0 - 2)

A brilliant rally ends with Manika hitting her down the line backhand long. AND NOW SHE DOES THE SAME ON THE FOREHAND!

Manika 4 - 6 Zeng (0 - 2)

Manika gets some luck as the ball goes off the edge. AND THEN GETS AN UNFORCED ERROR FROM ZENG!! GAME ON!

Manika 2 - 6 Zeng (0 - 2)

SHE GETS BOTH POINTS ON HER SERVE!! CAN THIS GET HER GOING?

Manika 0 - 6 Zeng (0 - 2)

OH NO NO NO!!! MANIKA SINKING WITHOUT A TRACE!

Manika 0 - 4 Zeng (0 - 2)

IT DOES NOT HELP

Manika 0 - 3 Zeng (0 - 2)

OH MY!!! ANOTHER POINT TO ZENG!!!

INDIA CALL TIMEOUT!!

Manika 0 - 2 Zeng (0 - 2)

Zeng forces Manika from side to side and comes up with both points on her serve.

Manika 0 - 0 Zeng (0 - 2)

You have to feel that Manika needs the next one. A 0-3 deficit might be too much to overcome.

Manika 9 - 11 Zeng (0 - 1)

And a Manika error will give Zeng the game.

Manika 9 - 10 Zeng (0 - 1)

OH NO!!! The ball catches the edge and Zeng has a game point.

Manika 9 - 9 Zeng (0 - 1)

STILL LEVEL!!! ZENG TO SERVE!!

Manika 8 - 8 Zeng (0 - 1)

This time it is Manika who takes the lead and Zeng who levels the game out.

Manika 7 - 7 Zeng (0 - 1)

AND AGAIN!!

Manika 6 - 6 Zeng (0 - 1)

Manika concedes another point but responds with a forehand to the body to keep the scores equal.

Manika 5 - 5 Zeng (0 - 1)

Manika gets back the lead on her serve but Zeng forces the error to level the scores again.

Manika 4 - 4 Zeng (0 - 1)

Zeng draws level with two big big points.

Manika 4 - 2 Zeng (0 - 1)

Again she loses the first point but makes up for it soon after.

Manika 3 - 1 Zeng (0 - 1)

Zeng gets a point back but Manika ensures that she gets her serve back with a lead.

Manika 2 - 0 Zeng (0 - 1)

Manika starts game two the only way she knows how to. Back to back points.

Manika 0 - 0 Zeng (0 - 1)

Manika Batra has lost her first game against Zeng of Singapore by a score of 12-10. She had two games points in that game but Zeng came back with four points on the trot to seal the opening game.

SREEJA AKULA - REMEMBER THIS NAME!! She has now been down 1-3 in back to back rounds and somehow managed to win both of them. She will now face Feng in the semi final. Feng has already faced one Indian so far in the form of Reeth Tennison who she beat in five games.

Akula 11 - 8 Zhang (3 - 3)

AND SHE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!! WHAT A CHAMPION THIS GIRL IS!!!

Akula 10 - 8 Zhang (3 - 3)

ALMOST THERE!!! TWO MATCH POINTS!!!

Akula 9 - 7 Zhang (3 - 3)

BACK TO BACK ERRORS NOW!!! CAN SHE KEEP HER COMPOSURE?

Akula 9 - 5 Zhang (3 - 3)

BACK TO BACK POINTS FOR AKULA!! SHE IS ALMOST THERE!

Akula 7 - 5 Zhang (3 - 3)

Now Akula does the same. Still two points between them in the decider.

Akula 6 - 4 Zhang (3 - 3)

Zhang responds with two big forehands. One falls on the table and one misses it.

Akula 5 - 3 Zhang (3 - 3)

Akula extends her lead but an error on the forehand keeps it at a two point game.

Akula 4 - 2 Zhang (3 - 3)

Zhang gets one back but Akula jumps her on the next one to keep her lead intact.

Akula 3 - 1 Zhang (3 - 3)

It has not helped!! Akula opens up a two point lead.

Akula 2 - 1 Zhang (3 - 3)

TIMEOUT ZHANG!!! THAT IS PRESSURE!!

Akula 2 - 1 Zhang (3 - 3)

AKULA LEADS NOW!

Akula 1 - 1 Zhang (3 - 3)

Zhang can only split the points on her serve.

Akula 0 - 0 Zhang (3 - 3)

I guess we should wait for her to go 1-3 down before expecting her best performances. She has been absolutely brilliant in the last two games. One more of the same is needed here.

Akula 11 - 4 Zhang (2 - 3)

AND SHE CONVERTS!!! THE COMEBACK QUEEN IS ON HER WAY AGAIN!

Akula 10 - 4 Zhang (2 - 3)

Akula takes the first point off her serve. AND THE SECOND ONE AS WELL!! GAME POINTS!

Akula 8 - 4 Zhang (2 - 3)

THE FOUR POINT LEAD IS INTACT!!!

Akula 7 - 3 Zhang (2 - 3)

THAT IS WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!!! BACK TO BACK POINTS!!

Akula 5 - 3 Zhang (2 - 3)

Akula takes the first point again and Zhang looked worried. However, she fails to return the next serve to keep it to two points.

Akula 4 - 2 Zhang (2 - 3)

She extends her lead even further but Zhang finds the big forehand to reduce the deficit.

Akula 3 - 1 Zhang (2 - 3)

She goes side to side and eventually gets the winner. Still two points between them

Akula 2 - 0 Zhang (2 - 3)

She starts off with back to back points on her serve. She just needs to maintain this lead.

Akula 0 - 0 Zhang (2 - 3)

She did it against Carey! She is doing it again against Zheng! But can she see it through?

Akula 11 - 5 Zhang (1 - 3)

AND SHE IS BACK INTO IT!!! THAT IS JUST WHAT SHE DOES!!

Akula 9 - 5 Zhang (1 - 3)

Errors by both players and we still have afour point game.

Akula 8 - 4 Zhang (1 - 3)

Akula almost goes down to her knees as she misses an easy finish on the forehand.

Akula 7 - 3 Zhang (1 - 3)

Zhang gets some assistance from the edge but she hits the next one into the net again.

Akula 6 - 2 Zhang (1 - 3)

Akula claims both points on her serve. She needs to make this count now.

Akula 4 - 2 Zhang (1 - 3)

Two great forehands, combined with some great defence, from Akula are enough to earn her the lead.

Akula 2 - 2 Zhang (1 - 3)

And we share points again.

Akula 1 - 1 Zhang (1 - 3)

Akula draws first blood as Zhang hits one long. Akula follows suit with one into the net.

Akula 0 - 0 Zhang (1 - 3)

For those who are giving up hope her, remember that she came back from a 1-3 deficit today against Carey. So not all is lost here.

Akula 8 - 11 Zhang (1 - 2)

She misses the inside out forehand. Game to Zhang.

Akula 9 - 10 Zhang (1 - 2)

AKULA SAVES ONE!!

Akula 8 - 10 Zhang (1 - 2)

She gets the first one but then overcooks a forehand. GAME POINTS

Akula 7 - 9 Zhang (1 - 2)

Akula is still in this. She needs to get both of her serves now

Akula 6 - 9 Zhang (1 - 2)

Zhang takes the first point this time but she misses the next one as she has her head in her hands.

Akula 5 - 7 Zhang (1 - 2)

Akula misses out on a poor Zhang serve but the Canadian commits an error so it is still a two point game.

Akula 4 - 6 Zhang (1 - 2)

INDIA CALL TIMEOUT!! That is a good decision. Zhang did look like she was about to take over the game again.

Akula 4 - 6 Zhang (1 - 2)

Zhang finds two winners - one on the forehand and one on the backhand to take the lead again.

Akula 4 - 4 Zhang (1 - 2)

Zhang misses a backhand shot as the ball goes long. Akula finally shows some emotion here. But an error on the next point means that we are level again.

Akula 3 - 3 Zhang (1 - 2)

Akula drops a point on her serve but we are still level here

Akula 2 - 2 Zhang (1 - 2)

Here comes Zhang though. Back to back points and the second one was a perfect down the line forehand winner.

Akula 2 - 0 Zhang (1 - 2)

She starts off well here in the fourth on her serve with back to back points.

Akula 6 - 11 Zhang (1 - 1)

That was much less convincing from Akula. She needs to find the rhythm that she had against Carey in the previous round.

Akula 6 - 10 Zhang (1 - 1)

GAME POINTS FOR ZHANG

Akula 5 - 9 Zhang (1 - 1)

Zhang forces another error but Akula comes up with a huge inside out forehand to stay in the game.

Akula 4 - 8 Zhang (1 - 1)

After conceding another point, Akula comes up with a forehand winner that catches the edge.

Akula 3 - 7 Zhang (1 - 1)

Akula finally ends Zhang's run of points with a big forehand.

Akula 2 - 6 Zhang (1 - 1)

Akula tries to go for the big forehand but it is into the net. AND AGAIN. She needs to compose herself here.

Akula 2 - 4 Zhang (1 - 1)

Zhang claims both points on her serve as Akula comes up with back to back errors.

Akula 2 - 2 Zhang (1 - 1)

Both players share a point each on Akula's serve as well to keep the game level.

Akula 1 - 1 Zhang (1 - 1)

Good start by Akula who claims a point off the Zhang serve.

Akula 11 - 4 Zhang (0 - 1)

THAT IS THE GAME! We are all level here in Quarter Final.

Akula 10 - 4 Zhang (0 - 1)

Zhang is not quite done yet as she responds with a back hand winner. It is not enough as Akula brings up game points.

Akula 9 - 3 Zhang (0 - 1)

She is now just two points from levelling this match.

Akula 8 - 2 Zhang (0 - 1)

Having lost the first game of the match, Akula has come back strong and leads by six points in the second game.

UPDATE - India's Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shetty have lost to the Singapore pairing of Clarence Chew and Ethan Poh in straight games of 12-10, 11-7, 11-7

Achanta/Sathiyan 11 - 4 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

AND THAT IS IT!! They are through to the semi finals of the Men's doubles event.

Achanta/Sathiyan 10 - 4 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

MATCH POINT!!! SIX OF THEM FOR INDIA

Achanta/Sathiyan 9 - 3 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

Errors by the English leave the Indians just two points from a place in the semi finals.

Achanta/Sathiyan 7 - 3 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

Achanta's cross court forehand winner makes it a four point game.

Achanta/Sathiyan 6 - 3 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

India cliam another point and England call TIMEOUT

Achanta/Sathiyan 5 - 3 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

And the streak is finally broken as Sathiyan finds the table on a down the line backhand shot.

Achanta/Sathiyan 4 - 2 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

India return the favour on Sathiyan's serve.

Achanta/Sathiyan 2 - 2 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

But the English level proceedings off their own serve.

Achanta/Sathiyan 2 - 0 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

Quick start by the Indians as the English hand them a two point lead off unforced errors

Achanta/Sathiyan 0 - 0 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

The crowd applauds as Sathiyan returns from what I can only assume was the washroom

Achanta/Sathiyan 0 - 0 Walker/Jarvis (2 - 0)

The Indian pair of Sathiyan and Achanta Kamal have taken two game in their ongoing Quarter final against England's Tom Jarvis and Sam Walker.

UPDATE - In the end an easy game for Sathiyan as he wins 4-0. That is another pre-quarters for INdia.

UPDATE - SAthiyan is tipped to go through as well, and he has a 3-0 lead over his English opponent now. This is solid showing by India today.

UPDATE - Sathiyan is in total command in his men's singles round of 32 match against Paul McCreery of England, and is leading 2-0.  On the other hand, Sanil Shetty has won his match against Derek of Ghana 4-0.

Sharath 11 LUU 6 (4-0)

That is it. The Indian has won in straight games. He is in pre-quarters now.

Sharath 7 LUU 5 (3-0)

Not very far away from a win now, Sharath.

Sharath 6 LUU 3 (3-0)

Excellent rally by both of them, but Sharath makes excellent use of the table to win another point.

Sharath 3 LUU 1 (3-0)

Three back-to-back points for the Indian, and he shows his class.

Sharath 0 LUU 1 (3-0)

Should be the last game of the match. Sharath looks comfortable.

Sharath 11 LUU 7 (3-0)

The Indian is moving closer to a win. He is just too good for the Aussie. Takes the third game.

Sharath 8 LUU 7 (2-0)

Sharath is way too good as Luu makes an unforced error. Indian in the lead now.

Sharath 6 LUU 7 (2-0)

The 17-year-old has a point lead against Sharath.

Sharath 5 LUU 5 (2-0)

This is a closer game than expected for the Indian, but he is still in a commanding position.

And that is it, in the next five minutes, the Indian women have won the match 3-0.

Manika/Diya 11 vs 7 Chung Spicer (2-0)

That is it. These too have taken the second game too.

Manika/Diya 7 vs 5 Chung Spicer

The lead is with India now as they'd be looking to close the game.

Manika/Diya 5 vs 5 Chung Spicer

But the Indian pair is certainly the better on here, and they won't let the match slip away. Scores are level.

Manika/Diya 0 vs 4 Chung Spicer

This is a good turnaorund in the second game as the Trinidadian pair has a slight lead.

Manika/Diya 11 vs 5 Chung Spicer

A good start to the match as they take the first game with relative ease.

Manika/Diya vs Chung Spicer has started too.

Desai/Shetty vs Chambers/Yan

The Indian pair had taken the first game against the Aussies 11-3. However, the Aussie team have leveled the match at one game apiece having claimed the second game 11-9

UPDATE - India's Sreeja Akula has pulled off an incredible come from behind win against Charlotte Carey of Wales in her round of 16 Singles encounter. After losing the first game by a score of 8-11, Akula showed great resolve to come back and take the second game 11-7. However, Carey came back strong and took a 3-1 lead in the match by winning the next two games 12-14 and 9-11. Being on the cusp of elimination, Akula responded by winning the next three games 11-4, 15-13, and 12-10 to book her place in the quarter finals.

UPDATE - Akula has done brilliantly to come back from a deficit of 1-3 to tie the match against Carey in her Singles' encounter. She took the sixth game 15-13 and now is level on 3-3 in the decider.

Achanta/Sathiyan 11 - 4 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

The Bangladeshis save one but that is all they can do.

THE INDIAN PAIR IS THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND.

Achanta/Sathiyan 10 - 3 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

The Bangladeshis get a couple of points back but the Indians are still in complete control here.

MATCH POINTS

Achanta/Sathiyan 8 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

The Indians are just running away with it now.

Achanta/Sathiyan 6 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

AND JUST LIKE THAT IT IS A FIVE POINT GAME!

Achanta/Sathiyan 3 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

But that is all they will get for the time being as the Indians claim both points on the Bangladesh serve.

Achanta/Sathiyan 1 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

Again the Indians are not allowing any room here. However, an error by Sathiyan makes it a level game.

Achanta/Sathiyan 11 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (2 - 0)

AND THAT IS THE SECOND GAME IN THE BAG FOR THE INDIANS!

Achanta/Sathiyan 10 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (1 - 0)

This is turning into a bit of a rout.

Achanta/Sathiyan 4 - 0 Bawm/Ridoy (1 - 0)

MAKE THAT FOUR!! THESE ARE REALLY SHORT RALLIES

Achanta/Sathiyan 2 - 0 Bawm/Ridoy (1 - 0)

AGAIN THE INDIANS START OFF QUICKLY! TWO POINTS ALREADY

Achanta/Sathiyan 11 - 7 Bawm/Ridoy (0 - 0)

AND THE INDIANS TAKE THE FIRST GAME! That looked easy for them.

Achanta/Sathiyan 8 - 6 Bawm/Ridoy (0 - 0)

They again reduce the deficit to just one but the Indians roar back.

Achanta/Sathiyan 7 - 5 Bawm/Ridoy (0 - 0)

The Bangladeshi's try to come back into it with a point but the Indians are having none of it.

Achanta/Sathiyan 6 - 4 Bawm/Ridoy (0 - 0)

The Indians are not playing around now. They open up a two point lead again.

Achanta/Sathiyan 3 - 3 Bawm/Ridoy (0 - 0)

The Bangladesh pair have not given up though. Back to back points means that the scores have been leveled.

Achanta/Sathiyan 3 - 1 Bawm/Ridoy (0 - 0)

Tennison 4 - 8 Feng (1 - 3)

Feng is tightening the screws here now. The four point lead is still intact.

Tennison 3 - 7 Feng (1 - 3)

Great play by the Indian as she pushes Feng back before forcing an error. She gives up the next point off an unforced error though.

Tennison 2 - 6 Feng (1 - 3)

Back to back points for Feng now. She is opening up her lead again.

Tennison 2 - 4 Feng (1 - 3)

The timeout has helped the Indian. She claims back to back points to come into the game. However, she concedes the next one so we will still have a two point game.

UPDATE - Sreeja Akula is not faring too well against Charlotte Carey of Wales. She is down 1-2 at the moment.

GAME POINTS

Tennison 3 - 9 Feng (1 - 2)

Feng is just applying the finishing touches to this game

Tennison 3 - 7 Feng (1 - 2)

Tennison does not want to let the Singaporean run away with it but all she can do is share the points on her serve this time.

Tennison 2 - 6 Feng (1 - 2)

A great return of the serve sets up the winner for the Indian. She concedes the next point to an inside out forehand by Feng.

Tennison 1 - 5 Feng (1 - 2)

It is the down the line backhand from Feng that has created a lot of problems for the Indian over the last few points. And she concedes two more points here.

Tennison 1 - 3 Feng (1 - 2)

Feng comes up with a great cross court backhand shot before she finishes the point down the line. And an error from the Indian makes it a two point game.

Tennison 1 - 1 Feng (1 - 2)

Errors by both players at the start of the game now.

Tennison 0 - 0 Feng (1 - 2)

Having been outplayed in the first two games, Reethi Tennison has found her footing now. She takes the third game to stay alive. She cannot afford to drop any more games though.

Tennison 11 - 9 Feng (0 - 2)

Feng gets lucky as the ball catches the edge of the table again. Still a game point though.

BUT TENNISON FINDS A DOWN THE LINE BACKHAND WINNER TO TAKE THE GAME!!

Tennison 10 - 8 Feng (0 - 2)

The Indian takes the lead as she forces an error on the Singaporean's forehand this time. AND SHE HAS GAME POINTS NOW!!!

CAN SHE CONVERT THESE TWO GAME POINTS?

Tennison 8 - 8 Feng (0 - 2)

Again Tennison takes the first point on her serve. THIS TIME THOUGH SHE LEVELS THE GAME WITH A BACKHAND INTO THE BODY

Tennison 6 - 8 Feng (0 - 2)

The Indian is not giving up here. She reduces the gap to just one point with a good forehand into Feng's body. But Tennison hits her next forehand wide. Two point game still.

Tennison 5 - 7 Feng (0 - 2)

Tennison's backhand lets her down but Feng commits an unforced error to keep the Indian in the game.

Tennison 4 - 6 Feng (0 - 2)

That is one of them with a huge backhand. But Feng responds with another perfectly placed forehand to keep her lead intact.

Tennison 3 - 5 Feng (0 - 2)

Tennison is staying in touching distance of her opponent. Just two more points and she will be right back into it.

Tennison 2 - 4 Feng (0 - 2)

Feng again unleashes that forehand to take the lead before finding the edge of the table to double her lead.

Tennison 2 - 2 Feng (0 - 2)

She takes the lead on the next point but Feng finds the perfect angle to level the scores again.

Tennison 1 - 1 Feng (0 - 2)

Feng starts off with a point as Tennison hits long again. However, she forces an error from Feng to level the scores.

Tennison 0 - 0 Feng (0 - 2)

Tennison needs to sort this out in a hurry otherwise that is the end of her singles campaign.

And she needs just one. That is the second game for Singapore.

Tennison 4 - 10 Feng (0 - 1)

Tennison concedes the first point on her serve with a long backhand before Tennison is forced into another error by the Singaporean.

Tennison 3 - 5 Feng (0 - 1)

Tennison hits her forehand long. And follows it up with a backhand wide.

Tennison 3 - 3 Feng (0 - 1)

Again the points are shared. Much better from the Indian so far in this game.

Tennison 2 - 2 Feng (0 - 1)

Again Tennison forces the error but Feng forces one back.

Tennison 1 - 1 Feng (0 - 1)

Tennison has the first point but Feng responds with one of her own.

Tennison 0 - 0 Feng (0 - 1)

That was not a great game for the Indian. But there is still time to recover here.

That is the first game in the bag for Singapore.

Tennison 2 - 10 Feng

Game points for Feng.

The Indian defends one.

Tennison 1 - 9 Feng

AND AGAIN!!

The Indian has a point back but Feng responds with one of her own.

Tennison 0 - 4 Feng

Make that a four point lead.

Tennison 0 - 2 Feng
