Justice AP Shah, who was appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to look into cases of conflict of interest in Indian cricket, has sent an email to board president Shashank Manohar and Ratnakar Shetty, the current chief operating officer of the IPL, enquiring about former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly's multiple roles in administration.

According to a report in Times of India, Justice A P Shah has given Manohar and Ratnakar Shetty two weeks' time, until January 27, to respond to the allegations against Ganguly, which comes in the conflict zone.

"The Office of the Ombudsman has received an application from Niraj Gunde, making certain allegations regarding conflict of interest against Sourav Ganguly, President of the Cricket Association of Bengal and a member of the IPL Governing Council. Please provide your response to the same within two weeks, “the Ombudsman's mail stated, reported ToI.

Niraj Gunde, an activist and journalist, raised the conflict of interest issue surrounding Ganguly in a mail to the Ombudsman last week.

Sourav Ganguly currently occupies three positions in the BCCI, one as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and the other as a member of the Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council to add to his position as Technical Committee Chairman

The former Indian captain was also embroiled in another conflict of interest controversy recently, when Sanjiv Goenka, who happens to be a co-owner of the Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Atletico de Kolkata along with Ganguly won the bid for the Pune IPL franchise.

Shashank Manohar had earlier dismissed the conflict of interest controversy surrounding the former Indian cricketer by describing it as a non-issue. However, the board president had also welcomed anyone with a complaint to write to the Ombudsman regarding the matter.
