Today, Michael Clarke was left furious on air after the third umpire overturned the soft signal without conclusive evidence.

And that moment came in the third over of the game only when Hales pulled Umesh Yadav flat and Tim Southee dived low to catch it and it seemed like the Kiwi had the fingers under the ball. While RCB started celebrating immediately, the umpire decided to take a review from their side with the soft signal being OUT.
Chettithody Shamsuddin, the third umpire for the match, checked the replay over and over again on slo-mo to understand if the ball had touched the grass. While it was clear in the replay that it was not the case and Southee took it cleanly, theĀ umpire ruled it as NOT OUT, much to the surprise of many, including Michael Clarke, who was doing commentary at the moment.
To overturn the on-field umpireās signal, the third umpire needed to have a conclusive evidence, which he didnāt have in this case. It was sufficient to agitate the former Aussie skipper, who reckoned that these slow-mo replays create an illusion that the ball is grounded. Virat Kohli and Tim Southee were also not happy with the decision and went on to complain at the umpires, but S Ravi and Anil Dandekar - two on-field officials for the match - asked him to get on with the game.Ā
