Indian Super League franchise North East United FC have announced the signings of DSK-LFC duo Lallianzuala Chhangte and Jerry Mawihmingthanga. In a press conference called on Monday, the North-East club, owned by John Abraham, welcomed the two players for the upcoming third edition of ISL.

With DSK Shivajians having a tie-up with Liverpool FC, both Jerry and Zuala were selected for training at the English club, a feat that has never been achieved by any Indian footballer earlier. “Both Jerry and Zuala have displayed tremendous promise in the football arena and have received coaching from the likes of Liverpool Football Club, based solely on their merit. Their addition to NEUFC is of utmost value to us,” Ardeshir Jeejeebhoy, director of football for NEUFC said.

North East United also announced the arrival of new coach Sergio Faras last week, and are gearing up for the new season of the ISL with the new recruits on board. “We are hopeful that the combined synergies of Jerry and Zuala, along with our new head coach, Sergio Farias and the rest of the team, will help us deliver scintillating results in the ISL,” he added.

Dave Rogers, head coach of the LFC academy in India, said: “Today is a proud moment for us all at the LFC-DSK international Academy and even more special for Jerry and Zuala.

"To be joining such a wonderful club and representing NEUFC in this year’s ISL is another milestone in their short but already blossoming careers,” he concluded.
