Saina Nehwal has revealed on social media that she has been diagnosed with acute Gastroenteritis and mild Pancreatitis. The shuttler returned to India after the All England Badminton Championship, giving a miss to the Swiss Open in Basel after doctors advised her to get admitted in the hospital.

The ace India shuttler had complained about a stomachache during the All England Badminton Championship last week and later revealed that she was playing with a lot of pain. The revelation came to her fans on an Instagram post on Wednesday. Her fans have been pouring in their wishes and are hopeful that very soon she will be back on the court.

“So some sad news .. was really going through acute stomach pain from last Monday.. managed to play few matches in All England with lot of pain ... and decided to skip swiss open and come back to India and find out the issue and I found out it’s Acute Gastroenteritis with mild pancreatitis and the doctors have recommended me to get admitted and hopefully I recover soon out of it …” her post read.

Quite incredibly. the 28-year-old still managed to put up a decent performance in the huge tournament after PV Sindhu was eliminated in the first round itself. The world number nine won two matches before eventually losing to world number one Tai Tzu Ying in the quarter-finals by 15-21 19-21. The Chinese Taipei shuttler eventually lost in the final to China’s Chen Fuwei.

The Olympic medallist would be hopeful of making a comeback in the upcoming India Open scheduled from March 26 to March 31 in New Delhi.
