Du Plessis takes dig at Indian Management over Wankhede pitch issue

South African all-rounder Faf du Plessis had a thing or two to say about the Indian Management's reactions over the Wankhede pitch, where the Proteas posted a record 438 runs in the decider of the five-match ODI series. Du Plessis, who scored a century in the match, also picked out Ravichandran Ashwin as the main threat in the upcoming Test series against India.

When asked about the about the Wankhede pitch fiasco, where Indian team director Ravi Shashtri reportedly abused pitch curator Sudhir Naik after South Africa set a mammoth total, Du Plessis had a little dig at the Indian management, “I don't think they would be complaining about the wickets if they were winning. I think it's a reason to perhaps shift their attention from losing," as reported by IBNLive website.

 Faf du Plessis, who leads South Africa in the T20 format, has no misgivings about what to expect from the Mohali pitch as he expects the ball to turn from the first day itself. "It looks quite dry. We are expecting big spin on day one. The way the wicket is looking at the moment, perhaps, it's worked," Du Plessis was quoted as saying by IBNLive, after his team's practice session at the IS Bindra PCA stadium.

The all-rounder also singled out Ravichandran Ashwin, who missed four out of the five ODI matches against South Africa with an injury, as the chief threat for the Proteas side. The 29-year-old Indian spinner, who is slated to return for the first test match against the Proteas in Mohali on November 5, will provide a huge boost to a struggling Indian bowling line-up.

Du Plessis said, "He is an outstanding spinner but I feel we played him well (in T20s). Now, it's a case of Test crcket, but with the conditions he will get a little more turn.

­”Ashwin is our ma­in threat, but we will plan really well. The way we play Ashwin in this series will definitely determine definitely the success in this series."
