When Captain Cool lost his cool – Dhoni trashes ongoing retirement rumours
Ahead of his team’s departure to Bangladesh for the Asia Cup T20, Indian limited-overs team captain MS Dhoni, who is known for his calm and composed nature on the field, lost his cool when reporters asked him about his retirement plans and made it clear that he is not planning to retire anytime soon.
"If I say something one month or 15 days back, the answer does not change. It's irrespective of where I'm asked. The answer remains the same. It's as simple as what is your name and I will say MS Dhoni. It will remain the same for a considerable period of time unless you give me a new format.
"There will be questions; you send me letters or requisitions. If you have the freedom, it's not right to ask all types of questions. It's very important to judge everything as to what needs to be done, why it needs to be done. Because somebody has the platform to ask questions, it does not mean that you keep on asking the same questions. It's a world today where everything is covered by media," Dhoni said.
The skipper also talked about the team’s plans for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 and World T20 and ruled himself out from moving up in the order.
"It is very difficult. In a normal scenario, I don't see myself batting up the order because of the batting line we have got," Dhoni told reporters in Kolkata.
After India’s series loss in Bangladesh last year, Dhoni had hoped for a move up the batting order from No.6 to No.4, which will help him bat more freely.
The 34-year old also talked about the Indian batting line-up, which looks well-settled ahead of the Asia Cup T20 and World T20 after registering series win over Australia and Sri Lanka recently.
"Virat, he is at 3, Raina at 4, Yuvraj Singh at 5, I am 6, Jadeja, Hardik. We may try [a promotion] if there is good partnership; we may try one of the hitters to go up and express maybe from the very first ball. But whether I see myself getting that promotion, I think it will be slightly difficult," Dhoni said.
