South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock suffered an injury to his finger during the second Test of the ongoing series against New Zealand. That injury makes him a doubtful starter for the remaining Tests and the upcoming season of the IPL, where he represents Delhi Darevelis.

An X-ray of De Kock’s finger on Wednesday had shown that he has suffered a ligament damage in the second Test of the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen is all set to make his debut if De Kock fails a late medical Test on Friday. South Africa’s manager and team doctor Mohammed Moosajee was quoted as saying, "we’ll make a late call whether, with the protective strapping the physio is trying to arrange, he can bat.”

However, there’s very little chance that De Kock will make the cut as Moosajee said, “Every time he catches the ball, stress goes on that area. He is going to need a period of recovery. There is every likelihood he will pull out.”

This is likely to rule him out of the upcoming IPL season where he was scheduled to play for the Delhi Daredevils. Not only is De Kock likely to miss the IPL, he may also be a doubt for the Champions Trophy, to be played in England in June.
