Vidarbha pacer Rajneesh Gurbani scalped seven wickets for India Red to restrict India Green for 309 in the first innings of the first game in Duleep Trophy being played at NPR College Ground, Dindigul. At stumps on day 3, the Reds are leading by 66 runs with their second innings score of 38/0.

Overnight India Green batsmen Sudip Chatterjee and Baba Indrajith went on to add 123 runs for the third wicket as they played sensible cricket from the very beginning of the third day’s play. Chatterjee missed out on a hundred as he got run-out for 82 while Indrajith went on to score his seventh first-class century. He scored 109 off 228 deliveries and his knock was studded with 15 hits into the fence. 

Apart from Jalaj Saxena (27) and Gurkeerat Singh Man (35), there was no significant contribution from other India Green batsmen. From 281/5 at the dinner break, the Greens were bowled out for 309 runs. Gurbani ripped through the lower-middle order of the greens and ended with figures of 7/81 in 27 overs. Shahbaz Nadeem and Ishan Porel claimed one apiece for India Red.

With a 28-run first innings lead, the India Red openers have provided a solid start. In 6.3 overs of batting, captain Abhinav Mukund (21) and Sanjay Ramaswamy (16) managed to add 38 runs and at the end of the third day’s play, India Red are leading by 66 runs with all 10 wickets in hand in the second innings.
