Mike Hussey has stated that there is no shame in India losing to South Africa in South Africa and they will continue getting better in coming days. Adding that all teams are finding it hard to win Test series away, the retired Aussie star reiterated that Virat Kohli is leading India brilliantly.

After a brilliant 2017 that saw India dominating all the teams at home across all formats, the No.1 Test team started the new year 2018 on a rather embarrassing note and lost the Test series 2-1 to South Africa. The series loss resulted in the Virat Kohli-led team getting a lot of brickbats from the critics, but Hussey stated that every team struggle in away conditions and there was no shame in losing to a good team in their home conditions.

“They (India) are a fantastic team. It is no disgrace losing to South Africa in South Africa; you see a lot of teams travelling and the away teams struggle. We saw England struggle in the Ashes, we see Australia struggle when they go to England, and we see Australia struggling in India and India when (they) come in Australia,” Hussey told Hindustan Times.

“Away teams find it hard. India have a fantastic team, very well led by Virat Kohli, and they will continue to get better,” added Hussey after the conclusion of the St Moritz Ice Cricket event.

India are scheduled to visit England and Australia later this year for a full-fledged series and that will be Kohli’s chance to redeem India’s away Test record as the team have won only against West Indies and Sri Lanka in away series this decade.
