Ranji Trophy | Plate Group: Uttarakhand chase two runs to win against Bihar

In their second innings, Uttarakhand chased a target of two runs to win against Bihar to seal a win by ten wickets on the Day 2 of the match. In other matches, Nagaland made a mammoth score of 530 runs banking on a valiant double century from Abrar Kazi and Manipur scored just 79 against Sikkim.

Uttarakhand vs Bihar

Brief Scores : Day 2 - Bihar 60/10 and 169/10 (Samar Quadri 36; Sunny Kashyap 4/51) lost to Uttrakhand 227/10 and 4/0 by 10 wickets.

Starting at the overnight score of 201 for seven Uttarakhand managed to add only 26 more runs to their total. Due to a low 1st innings total of 60 runs from Bihar, Uttarakhand got a huge lead of 167 runs. When the Bihar’s second innings started it was the same story again as in their first innings as they collapsed to 169 taking a tiny lead of two runs which the Uttarakhand batsmen chased on the first ball of the innings by hitting a boundary. No batsmen in the Bihar’s innings managed to score a half century. Deepak Dhapola once again picked three wickets apart from Sunny Kashyap (4-51) who was the pick of the bowlers.

Nagaland vs Mizoram

Brief Scores | Mizoram 106/10 and 16/2 (Michael Lalremkima 6*; Abrar Kazi 1/3) trail Nagaland 530/8d (Abrar Kazi 200; Moia 3/90) by 408 runs. 

Nagaland put up a huge score of 530 runs and declared their innings against a clueless Mizoram bowling attack. Abrar Kazi was the highest scorer for Nagaland remaining not out on a score of 200 runs. Apart from Kazi, Jonathan and Mughavi Wotsa also scored half centuries for Nagaland. On the bowling front Moia picked three wickets for Mizoram and Lalbiakvela and Ankit Rajput picked two wickets each. Mizoram batted for ten overs in the day losing two wickets en route their 16 runs, they still trail Nagaland by 408 runs. Pawan Suyal and Abrar Kazi bagged a wicket apiece for Nagaland.

Meghalaya vs Arunachal Pradesh

Brief Scores: Arunachal Pradesh 166/10 & 104/6 (Kshitiz Sharma 41; Abhay Negi 3/29) lead Meghalaya 141/10 ( J J Lamare 70; S Thakur 3/19) by 129 runs. 

Meghalaya began from their overnight score of 87 for six and were all out for 141 within the first session of the day. Arunachal Pradesh fared no better losing six wickets at the score of 104 at the end of the day’s play.  Arunachal Pradesh were leading by 129 runs at the end of the second day. For Meghalaya Abhay Negi picked three wickets for 29 runs and apart from him Lakhan Singh, Gurinder Singh and Himanta Biswa chipped in with a wicket each.

Manipur vs Sikkim

Brief Scores: Sikkim 1st innings: 372/10 ( Milind Kumar 261; Shelly Shaurya 4/39) lead Manipur 1st innings:  79/10 ( Priyojit K 30; Ishwar Chaudhary 4/37) & 123/2 (Lakhan Arjun Rawat 62*; B B Sharma 1/15) by 170 runs.

Sikkim started their innings with an overnight score of 299 for 9 and put on a final wicket of 73 runs before the double century scorer Milind got out as the final wicket for a well made 261 runs. Soon, Manipur came out to bat and also got allout for just 79 runs inside 30 overs. Ishwar Chaudhary was the wrecker-in-chief for Sikkim as he bagged four wickets and apart from him B B Sharma and Lee Yong Lepcha picked three and two wickets respectively. Manipur were forced to follow on and at the close of the day’s play they had made 123 runs at the loss of two wickets and were trailing by 170 runs.
