Former Indian Cricketer and Tamil Nadu batsman, Subramaniam Badrinath announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The decision was made public in an exclusive press conference that was organised at the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association headquarters, located in Chepauk, Chennai.

At the age of 38, Subramaniam Badrinath felt that it was time to make an exit from all cricketing formats. Friday, August 31 marked his day of retirement. Badrinath revealed that he arrived at this decision after a lot of contemplation on his part.

“This has certainly not been an easy decision to be honest. I've been pondering over it. I've mentioned it to Mr. Kasi Viswanathan. Somehow my hand didn't go into penning the letter over the last year. I don't know why. But having turned 38 yesterday, I decided it was about the right time," Badrinath told reporters.

A product of Tamil Nadu cricket, Badrinath had the privilege of representing India in all the three formats for 10 international matches in the year 2010 and 2011. He made his Test debut with a half-century as he played against South Africa in Kolkata. However, he could not maintain the rhythm in the next three innings, which limited his chances of exploring the top-order. He was also a part of seven ODIs and one T20I.

Badrinath made his debut in the Tamil Nadu team in 2000-01 season. He established himself as a successful domestic player when he scored 636 runs from seven matches, with an approximate average of 80.

He played for Tamil Nadu for a total of 14 seasons. After that, between 2014 to 2017, he played for other teams as well. He played for Vidarbha and a season for Hyderabad as well. His records show 10,245 first-class runs, accumulated from 145 matches scored at an average of 54.49. He has a total of 32 centuries.

He was also a significant player of Chennai Super Kings. Playing his last season in 2013, he had a total of 11 fifties from 95 games at a strike rate of 118.89.
