VIDEO | MS Dhoni shows everyone how to beat Mankading
MS Dhoni’s presence of mind is one of his greatest abilities and that was on display on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium. In the 14th over, Krunal Pandya did not release the ball on the fourth delivery but Dhoni's alertness ensured that his bat was behind the crease to prevent a Mankad dismissal.
Chennai Super Kings fell to their first defeat of the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League at the hands of Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. A brilliant all-round performance from the home team, especially from Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya, helped them register a 37-run win against the defending champions.
However, there was an interesting incident that took place in the second innings as CSK were chasing a target of 171 set by Rohit & Co. An incident similar to the dismissal of Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler by Kings XI Punjab’s Ravichandran Ashwin could have occurred only for CSK skipper Dhoni to stun cricket enthusiasts with his alertness.
MI all-rounder Krunal Pandya did not release the ball on the fourth delivery in the 14th over while bowling to Kedar Jadhav with Dhoni at the non-striker’s end. However, the veteran cricketer’s alertness on the pitch ensured that his bat was well inside the crease at the non-striker’s end so as to prevent a Mankad dismissal similar to Buttler’s wicket.
