Abdul Qadir has claimed that he sees a lot of similarities between Virat Kohli and Imran Khan as he recalled how the latter would perform well for the team and then expected everyone to do the same. He, however, was quick to add that the Indian captain is yet to achieve what the former had.

Kohli was at the peak of his abilities in 2018, bagging all the major ICC awards. He also led the team to their first ever Test series and Bilateral series win against Australia recently. On a personal note, Kohli also surpassed the 10,000 ODI run mark and became the fastest to do so.

"If I look at Virat Kohli as a batsman and captain... I can say he is similar to Imran.  He also has this ability of leading from the front," Qadir said on a TV show on Tuesday.

Imran Khan was the first ever captain to win the World Cup for Pakistan and was also a brilliant all-rounder and the first bowler to pick 300 wickets for his nation. Under his captaincy, Pakistan won their first ever Test series on Indian soil.

"Kohli also takes responsibility and performs and forces the other players to perform. Like Imran, he sets an example by doing something himself and then expects his team to do the same," Qadir further added.

The former Pakistan leg-spinner also reacted to Ravi Shastri’s comments comparing Virat with the West Indian legend Sir Viv Richards as well as the former Pakistan captain and the present Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"If I talk about Imran, the sort of personality he had and his ability to get performance out of his players... I don't think Kohli is there as yet. But no doubt the Indian captain also leads by example," he added.
