KL Rahul might have been going through a wrecked run of form, but that hasn't taken away the sense of honesty that is required by a player. When the team started celebrating Usman Khawaja's wicket, he instantly rose up to state that he had dropped the ball which made Ian Gould genuinely happy.

Returning to the team at the same venue where he had slammed a beautiful century four years back, KL Rahul never seemed at home. His inner demons, which have been killing him lately, got the better of him once again as he was dismissed for 9 by a Josh Hazlewood away-swinger. However, when he came back to the field in Australia’s first innings, he made sure that his sportsmanship and honesty gave him the internal peace that every sportsman craves for.

Marcus Harris failed to judge Ravindra Jadeja's very first delivery in the innings as he came down the pitch to slam the flighted delivery towards mid-on. His bat position, however, was never in sync with the movement of the ball as it touched the toe end of the bat and found KL Rahul in the perfect position to grab the ball.

The Indian team was certainly elated by that and even before the umpire came up with any sort of conclusion regarding the catch, they started celebrating the dismissal of Australia’s first batsman. However, Rahul knew that he hadn’t taken it cleanly and immediately gestured that the batsman was not out. While that made Indian team unhappy, and Virat Kohli suddenly turned his back and moved to his fielding position, umpire Ian Gould was very much impressed by that and did a thumbs up to applaud Rahul’s honesty on the field after clapping for a few seconds.
