Australia will be without the services of their pace spearhead Mitchell Starc for the second T20I in Brisbane, as the speedster will be away to attend his brother's wedding. Starc's absence opens the door for one of Queensland's Billy Stanlake or New South Wales' Sean Abbott to break into the team.

Australia will be partially handicapped heading into the second of the three T20Is against Sri Lanka, as they will be without the services of their talisman Mitchell Starc, who will be away from the team to attend his brother's wedding. Starc starred with the ball for the Aussies in the first T20I, ending up with figures of 2/18 from his four overs, which included the prized scalp of Kusal Mendis.

Starc's absence will mean that one of Billy Stanlake or Sean Abbott will slot right into the team, but with Brisbane being his hometown, it looks highly likely that Queensland's Stanlake might indeed get into the team.

Stanlake last played a T20I for Australia against India in 2018, while Abbott, who made his T20I debut way back in 2014, has not featured for Australia in the shortest format for over five years. Earlier, Abbott replaced Western Australia's Andrew Tye in the T20I squad after the latter sustained an elbow injury in training, ruling him out of the T20Is.

Having enjoyed a thumping win in the first T20I, Australia will be looking to pick up the pieces right from where they left off in Adelaide in the second T20I in Brisbane on Wednesday.
