Vijay Hazare Trophy | Rain plays spoilsport as Elite Group A and Elite Group B matches get washed out

A total of six matches from Elite Group A and Elite Group B were washed out on Tuesday as a result of incessant rains and wet outfields. Group A and Group B were scheduled to play in Alur and Vadodara respectively but heavy rains in both places of the country meant that no play was possible.

No less than 12 teams from Elite Group A and Elite Group B in the Vijay Hazare Trophy had to encounter a frustrating afternoon as a combination of persistent rains and a damp outfield resulted in all matches from both groups getting abandoned without a single ball being bowled. Mumbai vs Saurashtra, Delhi vs Vidarbha and Hyderabad vs Karnataka promised some mouth-watering action ahead of the first day of the 2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament but incessant showers put an end to all hopes, leaving both fans and players disappointed.

As a result, all teams have been awarded two points each and will now have to wait further to kick-start their domestic campaign for the 2019 season. However, with heavy rains predicted throughout the week, chances of the games getting washed out tomorrow in Alur and Vadodara look highly likely, especially with the drainage system nowhere near the required standards. Thus a complete disappearance of rain might still see the match getting abandoned due to wet outfields, as was the case in today's matches.

Elite Group A Results:

Hyderabad, Andhra, Karnataka, Saurashtra, Mumbai and Chhattisgarh walk away with 2 points each due to no result.

Elite Group B Results:

Baroda, Delhi, Odisha, Vidarbha, Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh walk away with 2 points each due to no result.
