Umesh dismissed Warner through his magic reflexes

Warner in the IPL is as good as a peak Don Bradman, if not better, and RCB of all teams know the sheer pain he can inflict. However, the Australian was quick to realize today that when Umesh Yadav turns his ‘god mode’ on, the end result is inevitable: a dismissal, even if you’re not batting.

‘How do we stop him?’ is a question teams have posed, often helplessly, whenever they come up against David Warner in the IPL. The Australian southpaw is - by some distance - the greatest and the most prolific batsman in the competition’s history, having won the orange cap on three separate occasions, and the signs looked ominous for RCB today after he struck a startling boundary through covers on just his second ball. However, little did Virat Kohli know that he had a special weapon in his side, fully capable of dismissing Warner even without bowling to him.

After conceding 12 runs off his first 3 balls - all to Jonny Bairstow - Umesh Yadav looked like he was set to receive a smacking at the Dubai International stadium today. A boundary off the pads was followed by a sweet six through mid-wicket and for a while, it looked like the wrong Umesh had turned up. However, the pacer salvaged his reputation and boosted his team’s hope of winning on the very next ball, by producing one of the moments of this IPL.

As Umesh, on the fourth ball of the second over, delivered yet another filthy half-volley, Bairstow smacked the ball right past the bowler. As the ball left Bairstow’s bat, the shiny white cherry looked destined to rocket towards the boundary. However, in under a second - in milliseconds, to be honest - the shot, instead, resulted in the demise of Warner.

As Bairstow struck the ball back with venom, Umesh showed mind-boggling reflexes, like a Tennis player at the net, and stuck his hand out. So perfect was the timing of the pacer sticking his hand out, and so perfect was the execution, that it ricocheted straight towards the stumps to catch Warner short of his crease. A devastated Warner walked back in disbelief as the RCB players mobbed Umesh, the man of the moment. A lot of people might call it ‘sheer luck’ but nah. We truly believe that it was rendered possible by the genius of Umesh.

VERY UNLUCKY!

Hahaha!

That's how you can get him out!
