‌Life can be unpredictable as even the biggest support systems could turn their back when the times are bad. Such was the case at the iconic Wankhede Stadium when Mumbai Indians' newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya was booed by the crowd during the toss, causing Sanjay Manjrekar to intervene.

Similar to their past seasons, the 2024 Indian Premier League did not kick off well for the Mumbai-based franchise as they incurred defeats in their first couple of matches against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Adding to the woes, the franchise’s decision to opt Hardik as Rohit’s successor for the leadership role did not go down well with the fans, leaving them divided.

Having already been booed in their two away fixtures, this time their home venue turned their back on the Indian all-rounder during the toss. When Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya strolled to the center for the toss with Sanjay Manjrekar, the spectators at the venue started to boo the MI skipper, compelling Manjrekar to ask the crowd to ‘behave’.

The Twitterverse closely followed this incident and here’s how they reacted.

Loudest ever!

Wankhede is roaring

At top

Crowd won

Whats happening at Wankhede

Rohit chants

Munbai ka raja

In a mood
