When too many things happen in a short interval, it may leave one puzzled. Such was the case with Matthew Wade who signalled a review for a caught behind amidst a wide signal given by the umpire eventually leading Sanju Samson to go upstairs as Rajasthan Royals squared off against Gujarat Titans.

Following a rain delay, the contest started ten minutes late, and the hosts suffered a couple of setbacks before Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson stabilized the ship with a massive third-wicket partnership. Eventually, this led to a 196-run total in the first innings, to which the Gujarat Titans got a steady start, courtesy of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. As the contest went along, the attention quickly switched to a hilarious incident governing Matthew Wade, the umpire, and Samson.

On the first ball of the eleventh over, Kuldeep Sen bowled a good length delivery, across the left-hander who tried to reach at it. Wade tried to slap at it and got beaten on the outside edge. However, the Hobart keeper thought that the umpire was signalling for an out instead of a wide and therefore signalled ‘T’. This led to confusion as Kumar Dharamsena signalled wide that eventually, Samson challenged with a review.

The whole incident left the Twitterverse buzzing.

What just happened here!
