Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is set to travel to Australia to play the final two Tests of the India-Australia series. The 34-year-old led Bengal's pace attack in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with eight scalps in seven matches at an economy rate of 7.67, guiding his team to the knockouts.

‌According to PTI reports, Mohammed Shami is poised to participate in the final two Tests of the ongoing series against Australia. Additionally, the clearance from the National Cricket Academy's medical team is expected to be a mere formality.

The report adds that while Shami’s participation in the Brisbane Test (starting December 14) remains uncertain, his appearance in the fourth Test in Melbourne on Boxing Day (December 26) is all but confirmed.

Earlier, reports suggested that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was awaiting approval from the National Cricket Academy to send Shami to Australia for the remaining Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. With the latest update, it’s clear that Shami will travel to Australia to bolster the Indian pace attack. Shami last played a Test during India’s defeat in the World Test Championship final against Australia in June 2023 and has made a successful return following a year-long absence due to his unfortunate knee injury.

The fourth and fifth Tests of the series will take place in Melbourne and Sydney, from December 26 to January 7.
