There are rare moments in cricket when a batter can't help but admire the sheer brilliance of a delivery that leads to their downfall. Such was the case for England's skipper Ben Stokes on Day 2 of the first test where he was left bewildered and awestruck at the same time by Gudakesh Motie.

England were firmly in control when Harry Brook and Joe Root took to the crease on the second day. The pair forged a 91-run partnership propelling the score to 241/3 in 50 overs with England leading by 120 runs. However, Harry Brook succumbed to Alzarri Joseph’s bouncer in the 51st over, departing after a well-crafted 50 off 64 deliveries. Following Brook’s exit, skipper Stokes stepped in, but his tenure was brief as he fell victim to a masterful delivery from Motie.

On the final ball of the 55th over, Motie delivered a full-length ball to the southpaw. The delivery, pitched well outside the off stump and landed on the footmarks, before sharply nipping back in. Meanwhile, Stokes leaned forward to drive at it but was caught off guard as the ball beat his inside edge to crash onto the middle stump. The English skipper stood at the crease with an impressed expression before dejectedly making his way back to the pavilion. His departure marked yet another low in his batting form, while the Caribbean contingent celebrated Motie’s exceptional delivery, igniting a flurry of excitement on Twitter.
