Glenn Phillips has rescued New Zealand once again, but this time in a different format. When the middle order failed to stay at the crease, Phillips countered all the English attacks. Eventually, he went on to complete his maiden Test ton, to power the Kiwis to a strong total.

Maiden Test Hundred from Glenn Phillips Rescues New Zealand.

It can be said that Glenn Phillips is truly the crisis man for the New Zealand cricket team. He has been their saviour with the bat, ball, and even his exceptional fielding skills. Recently in the second Test against England, Phillips showed once again why he is one of the finest all-rounders for the team.

New Zealand stood at the score of 188/5, when the team almost had their lower order exposed. If the English bowlers would have continued the same rhythm, the team would have been bowled out at the scores around 250. But little they were aware about the gameplan of Glenn Phillips, who decided to change things.

He went on to score 100 runs off 135 balls, which helped the Kiwis to settle down. Moreover, it also set the stage for Kyle Jamieson to play well, as he went on to score 41 runs alone. Following his wicket, New Zealand went all out at the score of 391, as the team added more than 200 runs for the last five wickets.

Our Take

Glenn Phillips is truly the crisis man for the New Zealand cricket team. He continues to impress the selectors with his impressive skills, as he also showed his discipline with the bat in the longest format of the game. Fans had been waiting for Phillips to score big in this format, and he has finally done it when the team needed it the most against England.
