Australia’s Sean Abbott, who has been representing Surrey in the ongoing County championship, has been ruled out of the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury versus Gloucestershire. Abbott, who was also set to play in the T20 Blast, will now fly back home to Australia.

Hashim Amla, who announced his retirement from international cricket in August, is set to sign for Surrey County Club as a Kolpak registration on a two-year contract with the club. Surrey is hoping to close the deal ahead of no-deal Brexit which close the loophole on future Kolpak registrations.

Tymal Mills and Tom Curran have suffered season-ending injuries as Surrey and Sussex have suffered a big setback in their respective T20 Blast campaigns. Curran will prepare himself for England's tour of New Zealand and South Africa later this year after recovering from the injury.
