When you're making a comeback, ensure it’s done with purpose and in style, leaving a lasting impact. Bangladesh star Shakib Al Hasan gleamed on his return to the County circuit after 13 years by picking a four-for for Surrey against Somerset in the ongoing round, two of which were clean bowled.

In the clash of the table-toppers, Somerset won the toss and elected to bat first. Lewis Goldsworthy failed to flourish after Kemar Roach cleaned him up for Silver Duck. A 33-run second-wicket partnership was followed by Tom Abell’s brief stint with Archie Vaughan. The pair seemed to pull the ball from Surrey’s court when the introduction of spin worked wonders for the visitors.

Shakib, playing a County game after 13 years announced his return in the 54th over. On the third ball of the over, he bowled a good length delivery, pitched on the fourth stump. The red cork skidded off the surface into the right-hander who was beaten on the inside edge while attempting a cut. The youngster lost his poise as the ball thudded onto the wooden sticks and fell before getting on toes to leave the field. Shakib initially went for an appeal but the sight of the ball crashing onto the stumps left him with instantaneous delight. The all-rounder eventually ended up with a four-for on the first day as Somerset was bundled for 317 in the first innings.

 Shakib the legend!
