Young gun from Tamil Nadu, B Sai Sudharsan racked up his maiden century for Surrey in the ensuing County Championship. In his second stint with the defending champions, the left-handed batter brought up his maiden ton in the competition by smashing a sensational six at the Kennington Oval.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first worked out well for the Surrey side despite losing a wicket early. Captain Rory Burns led from the front with a massive century with assistance from the middle order as Rishi Patel and Will Jacks smashed fifties each. With Ben Foakes gone for a duck in the 87th over, Sudharsan walked out in the middle with the stage set for a big total.

The 22-year-old was supported by Jacks for a brief period before Jordan Ellis consolidated a 101-run sixth wicket stand with him. He was outstanding in the middle, caressed ten fours before conserving the six for the milestone moment. He was on 98 off 175 balls before coming down the ground and slogging a fuller delivery around the off stump over long on for a six against Farhan Ahmed. The timing on the stroke was so neat that the ball soared over the ropes for a six, thus bringing up Sudharsan’s maiden century in Surrey colours and sending the Twitterverse abuzz.

Sends the ball soaring!!
