Mumbai City FC head coach Jorge Costa has stated that his boys are doing an amazing job and he is proud of the way his team goes about its business. In the mid-way through this Indian Super League season, the Mumbai team has looked like one of the better sides in the tournament so far.

Mumbai City FC defeated a clueless Chennaiyin FC 2-0 in what ended as a disappointing match for the Chennai based club. With 20 points from half the number of matches Mumbai City hold the second spot on the points table and look strong contenders for one of the playoff spot. On the other hand, for defending Champions Chennaiyin, it would take a herculean effort to reach the playoffs from hereon.

“It was a good game. We did what we normally do and the players since the first minute of the season until now are doing an amazing job. They are doing everything I asked them to do. We played as a team, fighting for one reason. So, I’m very proud. I’m very happy with the work we do every day,” Mumbai coach Jorge Costa said.

Costa also updated about the injury which his player Fernandes suffered during the match and stated that it was a knee injury. Raynier Fernandes scored a goal for Mumbai in the 27th minute of the game to them the lead.

“It’s something with his knee. I hope nothing serious happens to him. Right now, I can’t tell you anything more.”

Costa, a former Portugal player,  also asserted that he does not like commenting on individuals performances. Rather he prefers speaking about the team as a unit.

“The last game we won 4-2 and this game we won 2-0. I don’t like to speak about individuals. A lot of them did a wonderful job, wonderful work and it is not fair to say that A was better than B. Whether we win, whether we lose, we do it together,” he commented.

It has not been a good season for Chennaiyin FC and yesterday’s match was no different. Chennaiyin Coach John Gregory asserted that they did not take advantage of the chances they got and hence ended up on the losing side. He also rued the fact that despite possession and amount of play in their favour they could not make any inroads into the opposition's goal.

“I think Mumbai had one shot in the first-half and scored. We had a huge amount of play, huge amount of possession and lots and lots of chances and we did not take it, which has been the story of the season,” the Englishman said.

“I haven’t seen the statistics yet, but I am sure that we had a huge amount of possession and more passes than the other side. Consequently, we make a mistake at the other end and the opposition take their chances. Mumbai took the opportunities they got, and we did not. This has been happening more times than I would like to have happened this season. The effort was there but, in the end, we were not good enough.”
