Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille have signed Renato Sanches for £27 million, taking their transfer total to 11 players this summer. The Portuguese star has struggled to establish himself at Bayern Munich since his high-profile move from Benfica, making just 53 appearances in two full seasons for the club.

Renato Sanches has finally ended his nightmare spell at Bayern Munich, with the midfielder leaving the Bavarian giants and German for French side LOSC Lille reports Sky Sports. The 22-year-old had already reiterated his displeasure at not getting the chance to prove himself at the club and has struggled to live up to the bright potential he showed at former side Benfica.

The BBC reports that the deal is worth somewhere around £27 million, with Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge adding that it was impossible to keep Sanches at the club. This is just days after the Bayern chief went on to ask the 22-year-old to pull up his socks and fight for a place at the Allianz Arena.

“Renato Sanches asked us for the transfer because he wanted to join a club where he plays regularly. Unfortunately, we could not guarantee him this at Bayern. Match practice is also important for him because he wants to keep his place in the Portuguese national team for EURO 2020. I would like to thank Renato for his achievements and wish him all the best for his future on behalf of FC Bayern,” said Rummenigge reports Goal.

The arrivals of Corentin Tolisso and Leon Goretzka have seen Sanches drop down the pecking order under Niko Kovac, which was not what the Portuguese star wanted. He reiterated that in a post-match interview recently, which saw Kovac fine him for his comments and that saw their relationship deteriorate even further.
