Atletico Madrid have asked the La Liga to block Antoine Griezmann’s registration at Barcelona as his transfer fee is still under dispute. While Griezmann has been unveiled as a Barcelona player, the 28 year old’s release is still under contention with both sides still fighting it out.

Atletico Madrid may have brought in Joao Felix after selling Barcelona Antoine Griezmann but they are yet to get the full amount for the Frenchman. The two sides have been fighting it out over the Frenchman’s release clause over the last few weeks, with Barcelona claiming one thing and Atletico Madrid claiming another.

But things have now officially heated up with the Los Rojiblancos asking the La Liga to block Griezmann’s registration. Sky Sports has reported that the Wanda Metropolitano side have asked the La Liga to block Barcelona from registering Griezmann until the release clause dispute is resolved.

While the Catalan giants did shell out ÂŁ108 million for the Frenchman, Atleti claims that it is not enough with Griezmann agreeing to move to the Nou Camp before July 1. That would mean that his ÂŁ180 million release clause was still active, which has caused a lot of dispute.

La Liga president Javier Tebas reveal that Atleti have asked the league to block the registration. "Atletico wrote to us and placed in doubt whether or not we should grant Griezmann's licence at Barcelona," he revealed in an interview. "There is a mechanism that has been put in place and it will be the organisations that must resolve the situation. We don't have the element of judgement."
