Virgil Van Dijk warns Celtic star Kieran Tierney over a potential move to Arsenal
Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk has warned Celtic star Kieran Tierney about a possible move to Arsenal, revealing that the transition to the Premier League will be tough. The full-back has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, with the North London side looking to reinforce their team.
While Arsenal may now be chasing after Nicolas Pepe, their top target this summer has always been Kieran Tierney. The Gunners were heavily linked with the Scottish left-back towards the end of last season and have already had two bids rejected by Celtic so far. But the two clubs are still at the table, trying to negotiate a fee that suits both sides.
Furthermore, Napoli were also once in the race for the 22-year-old, the Serie A giants have stepped out, leaving everything clear for a move to North London. That has seen former Celtic and current Liverpool center-back Virgil Van Dijk praise the Scottish left-back.
In an interview recently, Van Dijk went on to say “It is not an easy step to make and you have to play well to do it. But Kieran has the qualities. He made his debut against Dundee when I was at Celtic. I scored a free-kick and then he came on and helped us get the win.”
Another Liverpool star and former Dundee United star Andrew Robertson has also heaped Tierney with praise. “I’ve played with Kieran Tierney for Scotland and he's played right back and centre back,” Robertson revealed in an interview. “I’ve watched him and he's a very good footballer. Last season he obviously had his injury problems.
Whatever happens with Tierney is up to him and the people around him. He'll make the right choice. He's a Celtic boy through and through and you can't take that away from him. Let's see how it unfolds. Good luck to him whatever he does."
