Reports | Manchester United eyeing Olympique Lyon star Moussa Dembele
Manchester United have kept an eye on Lyon striker Moussa Dembele who has been watched by United in the previous three Lyon fixtures as they desperately try and mend the club's forward crisis that has plagued the opening months of the season. Lyon signed Dembele from Celtic for a fee of £20 million.
The Premier League side lost their burly striker Romelu Lukaku and forward Alexis Sanchez to Inter this summer and have been unfortunate to be hit by an injury crisis to their attacking players with both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial out of the team. As reported by Sportsmail, a scout was sent to observe Dembele against Brest where he scored, the Frenchman was also scouted as he played against PSG in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League.
Dembele has produced some fine performances this term, with the 23-year-old has already notched six goals in six Ligue 1 games for Lyon and currently leads the top-scorers chart. Olympique Lyon Manager Sylvinho has often used the rotation policy between Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele in a bid to please the Dutch forward. Thanks to this reason, Dembele has missed quite a few minutes and United could take advantage of this situation to lure him to Old Trafford.
The French striker previously played at PSG and Fulham during his youth, with the Red Devils have kept eyes on him ever since then. They also considered a move for Dembele in the summer only for the club to then move on and strengthen other vital positions. Manchester United now lack numbers and experience up front but there’s hope that Dembele could adapt quickly to the Premier League style if he moves in January because of his previous significant association in England with Fulham.
