Bangladesh national football team coach Jaime Day has admitted that India is a long way ahead of them in terms of domestic structure and facilities. He feels that is the reason why the ‘Blue Tigers’ are firm favourites when they both the teams face each other in October in the World Cup qualifiers

Bangladesh has had a rough start to their World Cup qualifying campaign having lost their opening game to Afghanistan in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, earlier this month. And Jaime Day feels that it is going to be a stiff challenge for them against India, who are 83 places above them in the FIFA rankings.

"It will be a very tough challenge as India are ranked 83 places above us, and a long way ahead of us with domestic football and facilities available," said Jaime to the IANS.

India, on the other hand, had a mixed campaign so far. Having lost the first tie to Oman at home, they compensated with an inspiring 0-0 draw away to Qatar. Sunil Chhetri missed the game in Doha but will be available for the Bangladesh game with Jaime even admitting that the Indian skipper is their main threat in the upcoming match.

"There are a few players we need to be aware of but Chhetri is the main goal-scoring threat,” added Jaime.

India takes on Bangladesh in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on October 15 at the Salt Lake Stadium, in Kolkata.
