After their close win against Telugu Titans last evening, Bengal Warriors skipper Maninder Singh has said that his team have to take one match at a time and have to play each team on their merit. Bengal coach BC Ramesh termed the win as extremely important for the team as they went atop the table.

After the close win against Telugu Titans last evening, Bengal Warriors have topped the points table now after displacing Dabang Delhi. The Kolkata-based side has 73 points from 19 games after getting the better of the Titans by 40-39 on Wednesday. Bengal and Delhi have already qualified for the playoffs in the ongoing season. However, skipper Maninder Singh is of the belief that there are a lot of games left and the players have to maintain their form and focus.

“We can’t get too ahead of ourselves. We have to take it match by match and play each team on their merit. There’s still plenty of games left, so we need to ensure that we maintain our form and our focus,” Maninder told reporters.

Bengal’s coach BC Ramesh is quite happy with the way his team has performed so far, this season. He stressed on the importance of finishing at the top of the table at the end of the league stage and also explained about the team’s performance against the Titans last evening.

“Extremely important victory for us. Our next match is against Dabang Delhi K.C. and we had to make sure we won today to give ourselves a chance of finishing at the top of the standings,” explained Bengal’s coach.

“We played well at the start and built a substantial lead but then ended up allowing them a way back in the match. We raided without purpose a few times towards the end and while it is important to play safe, we can’t put in empty raids and then give away points in defence. We have done this in the previous games as well and we need to rectify that.”

Bengal went ahead with Sunil Dubile in the previous game and with the team having made it to the next round, we might see some more new faces getting chance in the starting 7.

Speaking about the same, Ramesh said, “Well, we already gave chances to Sunil Dubile and Sukesh Hegde today. It's about finding the right combination on the mat. We have so much quality in the roster, but it is necessary to find the right balance as well. We will see how it goes in the upcoming matches and then decide to rotate our starters.”
