Asian Games 2018 | Apurvi Chandela, Ravi Kumar clinch India’s first medal

Indian shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar have bagged the country’s first medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta as they settled for a bronze in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. Chinese Taipei's shooters won gold while China bagged the silver in the team event.

In the finals, the Indian pair remained calm and composed till they entered top three before finishing with a score of 429.9 and settled with a bronze in the event. China and Chinese Taipei battled it out for the final position with the latter eventually emerging champions with a score of 494.1 and China remained at the second place with 492.5.

They were tied for second spot in the final, and a silver looked like it was coming home, before the last shot but both Indians could only manage only 9.7.

Apurvi and Ravi have managed to gain 10.6 and 10.3 respectively with their first shots and after 30 shots, they were in the second position with a score of 308.5. When the silver looked like the most possible outcome, the Indians could manage to score only 9.7 and had to be satisfied with the bronze medal.

In other shooting mixed team event, Manu Bhaker and Abhishek Verma didn’t manage to make it to the final.
