ISSF World Cup | Manu Bhaker breaks world record to clinch gold, Anish Bhanwala secures bronze

Teen sensation Manu Bhaker shot 242.5 to create another world record on her way to gold in 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Germany. Commonwealth Games champion Anish Bhanwala had to settle for bronze in men's 25 m rapid fire event which took India's tally to 17 medals at the meet.

India's bright show at ISSF World Cup continued on Wednesday when one of the most consistent Indian talents took the field in Suhl, Germany. Manu Bhaker and Anish Bhanwala secured a combined three medals which saw India’s medals tally reach 17 consisting of nine golds, one silver, and seven bronze.

16-year-old Bhaker fired her way to an individual gold in the 10m air pistol event breaking the world record with a score of 242.5 in final. China’s Kaiman Lu who won silver was 5.6 points behind her at 236.9 while her compatriot Xue Li won bronze with a score of 216.2. Bhaker's dominance in the final was evident as she was lead the field by 3.4 points after 10 shots, 3.8 after 12 and a huge 6.1 after 18 shots before closing out with huge 5.6 difference.

In International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) competition, it was seventh individual gold for Bhaker and the third with a world record. Earlier, she had combined with team-mates Mahima Turhi Agrawal and Devanshi Rana to win the team bronze in the 10m air pistol event with a total score of 1694 after the qualification round.

Commonwealth Games champion Anish Bhanwala shot 24 in the Junior Men's final of the 25m rapid fire event to clinch bronze. After shooting 575 in the qualifying round, he was fifth out of the top six to make it to the final. This was Anish’s fourth international medal 

Matej Rampula of the Czech Republic claimed gold with a score of 30 while China's Jueming Zhang won silver with final scores 28.
