ISSF World Cup | Divyansh Singh Panwar bags silver medal in 10m air rifle, wins Olympic quota

Indian shooter Divyansh Singh Panwar has clinched a silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the ongoing International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Beijing, China. With this performance, Panwar has also grabbed a quota for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

Panwar is having a wonderful time at the ongoing ISSF World Cup as now he has clinched an individual gold for India in the 10m air rifle final in China. The teenager scored 249.0 and had come close to winning the gold which was eventually claimed by Zicheng Hui of the host country. Not only the medal at the World Cup, with this brilliant show in China, he has also got a ticket for the Olympics to be held in Japan next year. Russia’s Grigorii Shamakov managed to win the bronze medal with a score of 227.5.

After Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela in 10m air rifle women’s category and Saurabh Choudhary in 10m air pistol men’s category; Panwar is the fourth Indian to grab a quota for the sporting extravaganza to be held next year. After finishing third in the qualifying round with 629.2 points, Panwar had made it to the final of the World Cup which was held today.

Other Indian shooters Ravi Kumar and Deepak Kumar stood 44th and 57th respectively with total scores of 624.1 and 622.6.

Panwar had earlier won a gold medal in the 10 m air rifle mixed team event partnering with Anjum Moudgil. With three medals, which includes two gold and one silver medals, India is placed at the top of the medal’s tally. Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary had also managed to clinch gold in the 10 m air pistol mixed team event.
