Olympic Gold Quest recently announced that they would be supporting 23-year old wrestler Vinesh Phogat who is aiming for a podium finish at the 2020 Olympics to be held in Tokyo. Phogat won the Silver medal at the recently-concluded Asian Wrestling Championship held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Vinesh, who is related to successful female wrestlers Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari of ‘Dangal’ fame, won Gold medal in the 48 kg category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games along with a Bronze medal in the 2013 Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi.

Phogat is fresh off a Silver medal at the recently-concluded Asian Wrestling Championship held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan where she represented India. The Olympic Gold Quest recently announced their decision to back Phogat for her preparation in the build-up to the 202o Tokyo Olympics, where the wrestler is expected to get a podium finish.

"I am very focused to win a medal for India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and I am so glad that OGQ will be supporting me in my preparations. 2018 is a very important year for me as the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games are coming up. I am really excited to work with the team of OGQ," Vinesh was quoted as saying in a media release issued on Wednesday.

Vinesh had also won the Bronze medal in the 2014 Asian games when she beat Narangerel Eredenesukh of Mongolia to win 10-0. However, Phogat faced a disappointing end to her 2016 Rio Olympics campaign as she bowed out of the competition due to a knee injury.

Former Olympian and OGQ CEO Viren Rasquinha, said, "We are very proud to support Vinesh in her journey to the Olympic podium. To start with, OGQ will be supporting Vinesh with a physiotherapist, a sports psychologist and a nutritionist. OGQ is committed to provide her world class support for her training and preparations."
