Wrestlers Pooja Dhanda and Navjot Kaur made the final squad for the World Wrestling Championships to be held in Kazakhstan as there were no opponents to challenge them at the trials. Pooja is set to compete in the 59kg category while Kaur will be India's official entry in the 69kg category.

The Indian women's wrestling contingent is shaping up for a tough outing at the upcoming World Wrestling Championships next month. For now, female wrestlers Pooja Dhanda and Navjot Kaur have been selected to compete in the two non-Olympic events at next month's global showpiece. Pooja will compete in the 59kg, while Navjot will be India’s participant in the 65kg.

Since the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) had barred 25 wrestlers, there were no opponents left to compete against the two female wrestlers which ensured they'd make the cut for the final squad.

From 45 wrestlers who are part of the National camp at SAI Centre in Lucknow, 25 left without informing the federation. Pooja had lost the 57kg trials to Sarita Mor but has a chance to add another medal to the bronze she won last year.

Monday’s trials in four categories figured just two bouts. The World Championship is scheduled to be held in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan from September 14 onwards and is the first Olympic qualifying event.
