India U-19 beats Afghanistan by 33 runs
The Indian U-19 cricket team registered their second consecutive victory in the on-going tri-series against Afghanistan, by 33 runs on Saturday at the Jadavpur University Campus in Kolkata.
Brief Scores: India U-19 236 in 50 overs (Rishabh Pant 87, M K Lomror 43, Rashid Armaan 4-47) bt Afghanistan U-19 203 in 47.3 overs (Rashid Armaan 43, P J Pramanik 2-34, M K Lomror 2-31).
The Indian innings saw two good performances by Rishab Pant and M K Lomror. Rishabh scored a fluent 87 consisting of 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Lomror fell seven runs short of a half century. Rashid Armaan was Afghanistan's top bowler today as he took 4 wickets for 47 runs with an economy of 4.70. India set a target of 237 for Afghanistan.
Rashid came in to rescue Afghanistan at 113-7 and scored a flamboyant 43 to get them closer to the target. M K Lomror, however, put up a good show with the ball as well, picking up 2 wickets, to ensure an Indian victory. Pramanik, Sayed and Ahmed also picked up 2 wickets each, to skittle out Afghanistan for 203 in the 48th over to register two victories for India in two days.
India had earlier defeated Bangladesh by 82 runs in the first match of the tri-series.
India will next face Bangladesh on Novemeber 24 in their second rubber in Kolkata.
