Unorthodox medium pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has jumped to the 2nd position in the latest ICC T20I bowler rankings after a wonderful showing in the T20 series against Zimbabwe. The Gujarat pacer jumped six places in the rankings to reach the second position, just behind Samuel Badree of West Indies.

Bumrah reached the career-best ranking of No.2 with a rating of 744, after picking up 5 wickets in the recently concluded T20 series against Zimbabwe. He had come into the limelight in the series against Australia in 2016 and had been a vital part of India’s run to the semi-finals of the World T20. Along with MS Dhoni, he had set a record for most number of T20I matches played in a year by appearing in 19, this year. He is closely followed by South Africa’s Imran Tahir with 740 points, while Sunil Narine of West Indies is fourth, despite not being a part of the 2016 World T20. Also in the top 10 is fellow Indian R Ashwin, who was ranked as high as one previously. Ashwin slipped four places in the rankings and is at seventh.

Encouraging for associate nations and Afghanistan, in particular, is Mohammad Nabi’s place in 10th with 638 points. Virat Kohli still tops the batsmen’s rankings, with Aaron Finch close behind. Mohammad Shahzad of the UAE is also in the top ten, ranked at 9 with 674 points.

In the team rankings, India moved to 2nd position with their series win over Zimbabwe, with New Zealand still on top of the table.
