Indian women started their Uber Cup campaign in style winning all five matches in their Group D encounter versus Australia. The Indian ladies did not drop a single game in any of their matches as Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu led the team to victory by a cumulative score of 211-121.

After the poor start by the Indian men, the women shuttlers restored parity with a dominant performance against Australia. Saina Nehwal, who had the closest match of the day, beat Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen 22-20, 21-14.

Saina faced game point at 20-19 in the first game, but fought back to win 3 points in a row and take the early lead. The second game looked to be heading the same way with the scores tied at 13-apiece. But Saina upped her game when it mattered and pulled away from her opponent winning 21-15 in the second.

In the other two singles match-ups, P.V.Sindhu and Ruthvika Shivani were relatively untroubled, and won their matches against Joy Lai and Tiffany Ho. Sindhu won by a 21-12, 21-11 margin, while Shivani was even more dominant in her match winning 21-5, 21-11.

Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa won their doubles tie 21-9, 21-15, and N.Sikki Reddy and P.V.Sindhu added further gloss to the scoreline with a 21-12, 21-12 victory over Leanne Choo and Joy Lai to wrap up an excellent day for India.
