I have to make new strategy every time I play against Saina and Sindhu, says Carolina Marin

Carolina Marin has revealed that she had to chalk out new strategies before playing against the Indian duo of Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. Marin, who is a part of Hyderabad Hunters in the PBL, was also effusive of the tournament as it gives an opportunity to play with different players of the world.

After the Hong Kong Open Superseries, Marin suffered a hip injury which forced her to stay out of the game for some time. Now, she is back to lead Hyderabad Hunters team in the ongoing Premier Badminton League. In this tournament, she will face the players like PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal and before taking them on, she disclosed that she always comes with a new plan whenever she has to play against Sindhu and Nehwal.

“Both players are strong and are really good. They are different types of players and I have to make new strategy each and every time I play against them,” Marin said while speaking to TOI.

The World No. 4 is the most experienced player in the team and staying true to that she led her team to victory over North East Warriors. And she is also happy in sharing her experience with her teammates and enjoys playing with different players of the world.

“I am looking forward to it after the injury. There are players around the world in the team and we have the potential to do well. It’s great to tutor them and see how they practice and how good they are. Also, it is fun for us to play in a team with different players from around the world.”

In the recent past, the popularity of the badminton has risen in the world, especially in India. The 24-year-old player also talked about the growth of women’s singles in badminton.

“Women singles now is growing a lot. It’s the most competitive event now because the top-ten players in the rankings are very similar in terms of skill set and each player can win any tournament. So it’s really difficult. We have to innovate and be impressive in our approach."
